Square Cherry Danish with vanilla cream

Our Fruit Danish has had another change.

It's square now, with a soft vanilla cream in the middle and a handful of dark cherries on top. The pastry bakes up tall and flaky around the edges, and we finish it with a dusting of icing sugar.

The cherries are a little sharp, the cream is sweet and smooth, and the layers crack when you bite in. A proper weekend pastry if you ask me.
